Now that you have your new City Wega card, sign it on the reverse and follow the instructions below to activate it. A) You can activate your City Wega card via the City Wega app, available on the App store and Google Play, Step 1: Login to the Wega app, and tap “Activate Card” on your home screen. Step 2: Enter the cardholder ID (CHID) number on the accompanying letter you received, and your date of birth. Step 3: Play your card. Hold your Wega card near your mobile phone mic, and press the Mastercard symbol after the countdown. The audio tone will then be registered by the app. B) Use CHIP and PIN: For security reasons, you will need to make a chip-and-PIN payment when using your card for the first time. This will activate the contactless feature on your card automatically.

Your Mancity card should function anywhere that Mastercard is accepted in the High street and Online. Except for Pay at Pump that does not work like a normal transaction, in fact, they operate without advance card authorization. For instance, when you pay in the shop, the transaction is validated electronically before it is completed, so we know the money is available. This is not possible at Pay at Pump, so we would be unable to protect your account by going into a negative balance. Of course, you can, fill up your car and pay at the till. Furthermore, it is worth bearing in mind that some merchants don't keep their systems up to date, so from time to time we see situations where Mancity cards aren’t recognised. Yes, your card has been enrolled in Mastercard SecureCode (3DS) so that wherever you see the Mastercard SecureCode logo online, your card number will automatically be recognised during checkout. Your card provider is contacted during checkout to confirm your identity as the genuine cardholder.

To order an additional City Wega card, Wega Youth card, or a digital card: On the Home screen of your City Wega app, please select the circle with a plus sign in it, on the top right-hand corner. Choose the card you wish to add.

City Wega Youth cards cannot be used for the following services: fuel stations, toll and bridge collection points, online gambling & betting websites, dating and escorting services, massage parlours, personal services (aka miscellaneous general services), packaged stores (beer, wine and liquor), cigar stores, alcoholic drink places, and direct marketing - inbound tele-services merchants.

Payments made with a City Wega card cannot be cancelled but can be refunded by a merchant, if the merchant decides to conduct a refund.

When a refund is processed by a merchant it can take up to 8 days to clear in your account. Since this process is initiated by the merchant, City Wega recommends that you liaise directly with the merchant if you are experiencing delays.

We advise you to block the card immediately by selecting "Card actions" on the Home screen of the City Wega app, and tapping "Block Card." In addition, please contact our City Wega support team on +44 (0) 161 883 1501 so that the transaction can be investigated.

In case you have been charged incorrectly by a merchant, we advise you to contact the merchant directly for this to be resolved. If the merchant refuses, the City Wega Support team will need evidence that you have tried to resolve the situation with the merchant prior to disputing the transaction with City Wega.

3DS (also known as ‘Mastercard SecureCode’, ‘Identity Check’ and ‘Verified by Visa’) is a standard which helps to reduce fraud and provide extra security to your online payments. 3DS 2.0 is the latest version and provides a much smoother and safer process for you to authenticate your payments.

If you have not yet activated your card, you will be prompted to enter information that your card provider will use to confirm your identity. Your information will be validated immediately by your card provider and then you will be prompted to create a password to activate the service. Once activated, your Mastercard card number cannot be used without your personal password for online purchases with online retailers participating in Mastercard SecureCode. If you have already activated your card, after you enter your card number during checkout and submit your order, a Mastercard SecureCode window will appear and your card provider will display an authentication page. Enter your username and password or authenticate through the method handled by your card provider and click submit. Once your identity is verified by your card provider, your checkout continues.
